What to Expect When Becoming a Patient at Gallatin Valley Natural Medicine:
Visits - Our primary visit type is Tele-Medicine. We have few in person visits that are reserved for specific circumstances and can be scheduled over the phone.
Most people have become very familiar with Tele-Medicine visits during the COVID19 pandemic. Insurance companies have expanded their coverage to pay for Tele-Medicine visits. The patient is responsible to investigate if their unique insurance plan pays for Tele-Medicine visits.
Tele-Medicine visits are a convenient and simple way for a doctor and a patient to have a visit without the patient traveling long distances to seek care. Dr Breana has offered Tele-Medicine visits for years and now with the COVID19 pandemic and her family relocation to Anchorage Alaska; Tele-Medicine visits have become even more vital to the ongoing care and management of current and future patients.
Gallatin Valley Natural Medicine uses a HIPAA protected website called Doxy.me for all Tele-Medicine visits.
It allows for private one-on-one interactions between Dr Breana and the patient- just like a in-person visit would.
There are limitations to Tele-Medicine visits, specifically physical examinations are not possible. Dr Breana cannot listen to a patient’s heart or lungs, she cannot take blood pressures, or perform an ear or throat exam. If the patient requires a physical examination, there are several options to help achieve this.
1. Scheduling an in-person exam with Dr Breana at specifically scheduled times when she will be in her Bozeman, Montana office location.
2. Seeking care at a local clinic, with directions from Dr Breana as to what the local clinic needs to look for.
3. Ordering radiological imaging. This can include x-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, MRIs and other options.
4. Ordering blood, urine, stool or saliva tests to determine if there are biochemical imbalances causing the symptoms.
The fees are the same for Tele-Medicine visits and in-person visits.
The first and second visits are 1 hour each. That allows for the patient and Dr Breana to have a full discussion of concerns on the first visit and to develop a plan for testing.
The second visit is to discuss the results of testing and develop a comprehensive plan for treatment.
The amount of time Dr Breana spends face to face with patients is important and vital to understand the symptoms and concerns each patient has. She also spends a lot of time behind the scenes reviewing lab test results, as well as researching treatment options and gaining greater understanding of unique diagnoses a patient may have. This time is important for me to have a comprehensive approach to treatment and a timeline for addressing multiple complaints.
